With Bo He, releases the exterior, disperses Wind in the head, vents rashes and alleviates itching. With Bo He, Fang Feng and Qiang Huo, for External Wind-Cold. With Fang Feng, for exterior excess, pruritic itching and initial-stage boils.

Rx. Saposhnikoviae Fang Feng

Releases the exterior, expels External Wind, expels Wind-Cold-Dampness and alleviates pain.

With Jing Jie and Qiang Huo, for Wind-Cold. With Jing Jie, Qiang Huo and Qian Hu, for Wind-Cold with aversion to Cold, headache and muscle aches and pain. With Qiang Huo, for Wind-Dampness.

Expels Wind-Cold-Dampness, unblocks painful obstruction, alleviates pain and guides Qi to the Tai Yang and Du channels.

With Du Huo, expels Wind-Cold from the exterior, dispels Dampness and alleviates pain. Qiang Huo is better for superficial Wind-Dampness and upper extremities and Du Huo is better for deeper Wind-Dampness and lower extremities. Disperses Wind-Cold-Dampness, opens the channels and alleviates pain.

With Qiang Huo, for joint pain and numbness. With Fang Feng, for numbness in the legs.

Rz. Chuanxiong Chuan Xiong

Regulates Qi, helps Qiang Huo and Du Huo release the exterior, moves Blood, expels Wind-Cold, enhancing the pain relieving function of the formula (especially in the head and neck) and treats headaches.

With Fang Feng and Jie Geng, for headache due Wind-Cold Invasion.

Rx. Bupleuri Chai Hu

Expels Wind-Heat, raises Yang Qi, and resolves Phlegm and congestion.

With Bo He, releases the exterior, reduces fever, and expels the pathogenic influences, especially from the muscle layer. With Gan Cao, for Wind-Heat fever.

Rx. Peucedani Qian Hu

Descends Qi, expels Phlegm and expels Wind.

With Fu Ling and Sheng Jiang, treats the manifestation and root. With Jie Geng and Bo He, for symptoms of Wind-Heat. With Chai Hu, for Wind-Heat constraining the Lungs, leading to a stifling sensation in the chest and cough with profuse sputum.

Opens the Lungs, expels Phlegm, expels pus, benefits the throat and directs the effects of other herbs to the upper body.

With Zhi Ke regulates the Qi flow in the chest and aids in the transformation of Phlegm for chest congestion. With Zhi Ke and Qian Hu, improves Lung Qi circulation, expels Phlegm and stops cough. With Gan Cao, disseminates Lung Qi, expels Phlegm, resolves toxicity, and expels pus for productive cough with hoarseness, pain and swelling of the throat due to Wind-Heat.

Fr. Aurantii Zhi Ke

Promotes the movement of Qi.

With Chai Hu and Bo He, for Upper Jiao surface Heat problems.

Poria Fu Ling

Transforms Phlegm, strengthens the Spleen, leaches out Dampness and promotes urination.

With Qian Hu, Jie Geng and Zhi Ke, resolves Phlegm and stops cough.
